Each person deserves to be part of a strong family and that’s where Family Focus Incorporated (FFI) comes in. As a nonprofit organization, we are passionate about providing community based opportunities and resources towards enriching the lives of children, youth and families. Members of the FFI team have witnessed firsthand the impact that social, economic, legal and medical issues has had on the family. Out of our commitment to excellence, FFI provides compassionate, competent and professional “Family Focused” service that will strengthen and support each member of the family.
The dictionary defines family as a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household. However, we believe that in the 21st century, the family composition has changed. Family may not always be related by blood; it can be friends or colleagues, not necessarily the family you were born into or adopted into but one that you may have created for yourself. Family inspires feelings of “fitting in”, being respected and encouraged. It consists of the people you can confide in and the people who love and support you…..that’s FAMILY!
Family is the focus because empowered families can impart greater clarity in positive decision making related to communication, social emotional learning, mental health development and the overall healing of its members. Building stronger families provide a sense of belonging and assist them in becoming healthy productive members of society. FFI is passionate about providing community based opportunities and resources towards enriching the lives of children, youth and families.
Our goal is to strengthen and support families to address life challenges impacting their day to day dynamics. We understand that being a part of a family unit isn’t always the easiest. However; our services and workshops are designed to assist each family member in feeling more confident and successful in their role. We offer an array of workshops, resources and services to build successful families. Workshops include but are not limited to:
Positive Parenting Strategies
The Importance of Effective Communication
De-escalation Skill Development
Substance Use Awareness
Conrad and Cynthia Bell have always had a passion for working with children, youth and families in the community. As a Guidance Counselor, Conrad provided support to high school students in the urban community who faced day to day challenges ranging from homelessness to poor academic performance. As an educator, Cynthia served over a 30 year period as a Special Education Teacher, Technical Support Specialist and Assistant Director of Special Education, being a witness to the many obstacles families had to overcome associated with issues in the home, school, and community settings. Through their respective occupations and day-to-day work duties, they would often share stories of children and families who were traumatized, marginalized, and discounted. They witnessed firsthand, parents who suffered from a variety of social, economic, legal, and medical issues and needed support in making a positive change. Upon retirement, they decided to remain committed to helping those in need. Conrad and Cynthia believe that healthy families produce healthy children who become healthy productive members of society. As a result of this belief, they organized Family Focused, Inc., a nonprofit agency where they could provide compassionate, competent, and professional services to help strengthen family dynamics and promote positive change.
